On February 11th, 2023 in Toplocentrala Centre for Contemporary Arts we celebrated the creativity and perseverance of this year’s winners! All attendees relished the opportunity to meet other young writers and exchange ideas and inspiration.
We were honored to share the special occasion with Brent LaRosa, Cultural Atache, US Embassy, and Vladimir Kolev, Managing Director, Klett Bulgaria. Their support over the years is invaluable. Maria Stefanova, Sophia Kleinsasser and Violeta Yanicheva – members of the jury, also attended the ceremony and congratulated the winners for their success.
During the award ceremony the guests had the chance to experience playback theater by Storycatchers and observe their personal stories develop into an art performance! Students from the 91st German Language High School “Prof. Konstantin Galabov” – Dayana Karadzhova, Kamen Hristov and Yana Dramova, entertained the audience with musical performances.
As we had such talented writers this year, we gave out special awards! The first ones were from the American University in Bulgaria – Lachezar Tuparov received a spot in the AUBG educational summer camp and Asen Avramov was awarded a TOEFL preparatory course. Nadezhda Zlatareva won the second special award from Cynthia Phoel, who is a writer and former Peace Corps volunteer in Bulgaria. The third special award in honor of Tim Steflik, who was also a Peace Corps volunteer in Bulgaria, was given to Dzheren Apti.
