I was given the unique chance to meet young people, who are definitely our future day. And what I feel is respect and admiration!” Darina Konova On April 22nd 2017 at the American University in Blagoevgrad we celebrated the achievements of this year’s winners and their teachers. All participants had the opportunity to visit the university campus. The students and their teachers received T-shirts (I became a WRITER to give the VOICES in my head something PRODUCTIVE to do 🙂 and prizes provided by Klett, Macmillan, Express Publishing and Mondelez. The CORPluS Foundation awarded the winners with vоuchers for books. The American University in Blagoevgrad awarded Tsvetina Chirganska (PMG Yane Sandanski, Gotse Delchev) with a three-week summer camp and Bilyana Tsolova (32 SU, Sofia) with an intensive TOEFL course. Daniela Kirilova (PEG Prof. d-r Asen Zlatarov, Veliko tarnovo) received the special prize in the name of the American writer Cynthia Phoel who was a former Peace Corps volunteer in Bulgaria. The award ceremony marked the closing of this year’s campaign. We want to thank all our partners for their generous contributions towards our project: US Embassy in Sofia, American University in Bulgaria, AVO-Bell and Integral. And here are the national winners of the 2017 Bulgarian Creative Writing Competition! All regional finalist essays were read and assessed on Saturday, March 11,2017 by our panel of 12 native speakers and Bulgarian professionals – Angela Rodel, Borislav Pantaleev, Darina Konova, Dimitar Tsekov, Galina Nikolova, Gergana Paraskova, Gergana Yaneva, Joseph Herr, Neli Gacheva, Sunny Stimmler,Valya Zavyalova and Vladimir Mihailovski. “In the past few years reading these essays and getting a glimpse of the creative worlds of 6th to 12th graders has been one of the yearly pleasures for me” – Galina Nikolova Check the results at 2017 National Results There are 21 winners – 3 per grade level – and these students, as well as their English teachers (1 per school), will be invited to attend the official BCWC awards ceremony in Blagoevgrad on April 22, 2017. Schools and winners will be contacted individually at a later time in order to coordinate the logistics for the event. Once again, congratulations to all! The winning essays will be unveiled for all to read on the BCWC website. Stay tuned!

More than 4 800 students from 186 schools will unleash their imagination on February 13 and 14 and will participate in the seventh edition of the Bulgarian Creative Writing Competition. Good luck to all participants!
During the weekend of November 25-27, 2016 30 English language teachers from primary, secondary, vocational and language schools participated in a workshop organized by the CORPluS Foundation. The participants got involved in sessions on warm-ups and energizers, developing characters, writing with creative details, exploring poetry, evaluating students’ writing, etc. Thank you to our talented and inspiring facilitators – Sophia Kleinsasser, Hannah Combe, Sunny Stimmler and Dena Popova. The Creative Writing workshop was organized with the support of the Bulgarian-American Society.
